It has officially been 17 days since I started my "365.2 Nothing New Challenge" and I am proud to announce I am still going strong!
Whilst walking through Chadstone Shopping Centre last Thursday I admit that I almost crumbled! At the moment it is the end of Australia's financial year which means that 50% - 70% sales are of abundance! I survived...just! Whilst enjoying a cup of steaming tea and a Lindt Chocolate another challenge slowly rose in my mind... I leave for Europe in a couple of weeks and I do not have anything to wear! I would have to go thrift shopping.
My experiences of thrift shopping up until this point have been terrible. Clothing from the 80's, all kinds of questionable stains (and smells) and within 10 minutes I felt the need to bathe with some steel-wool to scrub off the grime. How would I go this time around?

First I started in Friperie in Fitzroy and I could have easily left with the entire store. Everything was sorted by colour, the clothing quality was beautifully tailored and their assortment of stock was picked out carefully. I left with a flowing red 60's skirt, a yellow farm-style shirt, a vintage turquoise dress and a cute polka dot-skirt with pockets! (pictures below)
Enthusiastic with how successful my trip in Fitzroy was I explored the op-shops in Prahran some days afterwards with my grandma. I bought a beautiful Marc by Marc Jacobs Dress ($6) and a Jigsaw Knit ($2). I have officially been converted!
Thrift shopping is like searching through a giant treasure chest. Sometimes you find some amazing pieces, other times you find something which makes you chuckle and if you are lucky you will find something which makes you exclaim loudly "WTF!?". Have you ever found something obscure?
