Location: Eger, Hungary
After 40 hours void of sleep my first impressions of Hungary were surreal.
As we drove through Budapest the only prospect which interested me was the thought of sleep. The car was rocking me gently like a cradle and the sun was covering my legs like a comforting blanket, it was utterly intoxicating. With feeble attempts I surrendered into a soft slumber.
When I woke I was blinded by a sea of yellow, as the fields came into focus there was an army of sun flowers marching across the rolling hills. Rusted trucks were rattling down the road filled with green watermelons and tanned figures stood next to wooden carts selling mountains of sweet smelling peaches and other juicy summer fruits.
I had the desire to dance amongst the yellow fields of flowers whilst digging my teeth into a soft peach having the sweet juice roll down my arm and onto my elbow. Before I was able to finish this daydream the town came into view...

Houses were painted in various colours - yellows, greens, pinks and the yards were flooded with an assortment of vegetables and flowers. Everything was green and filled with colour like an artists palette, I simply did not want to blink!
Eventually we arrived at my cousins house which had a wonderful view of the lush hills and countryside. We sat around the kitchen table sharing stories and adventures whilst eating luxurious Hungarian cuisine. A delicate chicken soup, soft catfish which melted in your mouth and a greek salad made from ingredients picked fresh from the garden.
It was one of the most delicious meals I have ever eaten and it was just the beginning of the many culinary treats and adventures to come.
